Bennington Coalition for the Homeless

"Dedicated to Collaborating, Coordinating, and Implementing Services to the Homeless in Bennington County and Promoting Community Awareness"

Program Description

Due to the growing homeless population in Bennington County, the Bennington Coalition for the Homeless was formed in 1997 to meet the needs of low income families experiencing and/or facing homelessness.  To accomplish this, the Coalition operates the 6 Bank Street Shelter for Families in Transition, McCall Street Transitional Apartments, and The Thatcher House. All three are affordable housing facilities intended for both short and long-term transitional and supportive housing. The Bennington Coalition for the Homeless’ staff works directly with families and individuals to design and implement a realistic plan for self-sufficiency through life skills education, case management, employment readiness, budget counseling, all with permanent housing as the primary goal.
